Mr. Muhammad Khalid Siddiq is presently serving as Director General , Pakistan Standards & quality Control Authority (PSQCA) w.e.f 11/5/2016. Prior to this he served the Ministry of Science & Technology as Joint Technological Adviser. He also was holding the portfolio of Director General , Pakistan Council of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology. His previous assignments, includes his postings as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Climate Change, Ministry of Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit Baltistan. He has also served as Director General (P&D) looking after a significant portfolio of Development Projects.
Mr. Siddiq did his B.Sc ( Electrical Engineering ) in February 1985 from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore . He further obtained his M.Sc (Engineering) degree in the discipline of Industrial Engineering and management from the Asian Institute of Technology , Bangkok in December ‘1986.
Mr. Siddiq holds almost 29 years of professional experience in varied fields such as Industry, consulting, academics and public sector technical governance. He has represented internationally on behalf of Government of Pakistan at different forums such as ECO, D-8 countries, South Asian Regional Standards organization (SARSO), Global Environment Fund (GEF), Asian Pacific Centre for information and communication Technology ( APCICT), Asian Pacific centre for Technology Transfer (APCTT), United Nations Convention to combat desertification (UNCCD), United Nations Framework Convention to Climate Change (UNFCCC), Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID) etc. He has attended International Conferences / trainings in different countries such as Germany, England, Korea, India, Turkey, Iran, Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka, Abudhabi UAE, Turkemistan and Thailand.
Mr. Siddiq besides the Technical professional career also served as visiting / Adjunct Faculty members with Universities like NUST, CIIT, Bahria, Szabist and Hamdard .He has nine Technical Publications in international journals, to his credit.
Mr. Siddiq was actively involved in the drafting and preparation of the legislative document for establishment of Pakistan Halal Authority (PHA). The PHA Act has recently been approved by the parliament and assented to by the President of Pakistan in March’2016. He also remained very instrumental and heading the drafting team for preparation of National Quality Policy of Pakistan ( NQP). The document is presently with the Cabinet for its consideration.
Besides this Mr. Siddiq is also a member to Boards and Councils of different Public Sector organizations.
