Chemical Division is working under the Directorate of Standardization Wing of SDC-PSQCA. This Division is responsible for establishing Pakistan Standards in relation to article or process related to chemical and chemical products in accordance with Pakistan Standards Rule 2008. Standardization works related to chemical and chemical products is carried out through National Standards Committee (NSC) and its Technical Committee (TC). This Division provides secretariat role to the NSC and its TCs.

Scope:            

 

Standardization in the field of Chemical and Chemical Products.

 

Functions of the NSC on Chemical and Chemical Products:

 

The NSC shall perform the following functions, namely:-

  1. to advise on the subject areas to be taken up for formulation of standards keeping in view the national needs and priorities in their concerned areas;
  2. to set up technical committees within their areas of activity, define their scopes, appoint their Chairman and members and co-ordinate their activities;
  3. to approve proposals for work, decide which proposals should be taken up and direct the technical committee to undertake the approved work and to determine the priority to be assigned to the work;
  4. to advise on matters relating to research and development needed for the establishment of Pakistan Standards or their revision
  5. to study the work of international organizations and their committees in standards formulation as related to the area of work of the NSCs and recommend on the extent and manner of participation in standardization activities at the international level;
  6. to advise on implementation of established standards; and
  7. to receive and examine the reports of technical committee and to make recommendations thereon to the Authority.
