Brief History of Division:
Electronics Division established in 1987, keeping in view the importance of Electronics Technology. To provide strategy to effectively participate in the development of Pakistan standards to facilitate international trade for the benefit of the Pakistan industry in the fields of all electronics, and to provide a framework to the electronics industry, which serves as the focal point, conduit, and advocate for Pakistan interests in international and regional electronics standards, conformity assessment, and other related matters.
Scope of Activities of Division:
The secretariat providing advice on procedures and on interpretation of the PSQCA Directives to the committee chair, members or stakeholders.
Meeting preparation and follow-up:
Assisting to set meeting dates and locations, and to draft meeting agendas. Distribution of the agenda and other meeting documents. Recording decisions at meetings and preparing meeting minutes. Following up to ensure agreed actions are completed.
There is One (01) National Standards Committee (NSC) and Fourteen (14) Technical Committees (TCs) are working under the umbrella of Electronics Division.
We are formulating and adopting the National Standards in the following areas of the Electronics Engineering with the help and consultation of International Standards Organizations i.e. IEC, ISO:
- Terminology, graphical symbols for use on electronic equipment.
- Radio communications.
- Power electronics.
- Capacitors, resistors and other passive components.
- Semiconductor devices and Integrated circuits.
- Printed circuits.
- Electromechanical components, connectors for electronic equipment.
- Audio, video systems and Recording.
- Cables, wires and waveguides,
- Piezoelectric devices.
- Fiber optic, fiber optic cables and their accessories.
- Nuclear instrumentation.
- Magnetic components and ferrite materials.
- Electro medical equipment etc.
1071 Nos. of Pakistan Standards have been formulated / established by the National Standards Committee (NSC) in the above mentioned areas. (Upto June, 2020)
Besides this, 4052 Nos. IEC Standards and 956 Nos. ISO Standards have also been adopted as Pakistan Standards up till now. (Upto June, 2020)
Total No. of Pakistan Standards (Formulated / Established), IEC adopted and ISO adopted are 6079 up till now. (Upto June, 2020).
Electronic balloting of ISO (DIS, FDIS etc.) has also being carried out under the umbrella of Electronics Division.
NSC(s) Name: National Standard Committee for Electronics
Scope :
A National Standards Committee is constituted with the approval of the Authority from the representative of the concerned government Agencies / Public sectors, Manufacturers / Associations, consumer Associations, Academia / Technologist, Federation of Chambers of commerce and Industry.
The function of the National Standards Committee:
- To set up technical committees.
- To approve proposal for work.
- To advise for the formulation of standards keeping in view the National need.
- To advise on research and development needed for the establishment Pakistan Standards.
- To study the work of International Organizations and their Committees in standard formulation.
- To advise on implementation of established standards
- To receive / examine the reports of the Technical Committee and to make recommendations thereon to the Authority.
- The member shall hold office for a period of years and may be reappointed.
